Windows Vista

Windows Vista will have problems running some older versions of applications. There is a compatibility mode that can be easily set per application. To configure the compatibility mode for an application, just locate the installation directory and right click on the .exe, selecting Properties from the menu.

Select the Compatibility tab:

You can choose to run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode, or even all the way back to Windows 95 compatibility. Probably the most useful setting to start off with would be to disable the visual themes and desktop composition, if you can’t get things working. You’ll have to play around with it, but most likely you can get your application working this way.

How to uninstall QuickTime on a Windows PC Apple

If you are trying to install QuickTime 7 and run into difficulty, see if your computer has QuickTime version 3 or 4 installed on it. If it does, uninstall QuickTime 3 or 4 completely before attempting to install QuickTime 7 again. Once the old version is gone, you should be able to install QuickTime normally.

Troubleshooting Tips

• Make sure your computer meets the system requirements.
• Try running ScanDisk to verify that the directory is OK. This is an important step to take before installing any software.
• Make certain you have installed the most recent drivers for your sound and video cards. Even if you have a "brand new" computer, it is not guaranteed to have the most recent software installed. Contact the manufacturer of your sound and video cards for additional information.
• Make certain you have installed a recent version of DirectX.
Errors are usually related to software conflicts, unusable files, or incompatibilities. They can also be related to specific hardware combinations, and sometimes the way in which the hardware is configured. Keep in mind that an error message does not necessarily point to a particular cause or solution. Since there can be many different causes for a particular symptom, some suggestions may not work, and you may need to discover a solution on your own.
